Yes. When the plow cut open the soil, letting carbon and water vapor to gas out and when plants were left to go fallow and rot, we commenced upsetting the balance. Today with 1% more planetary heat being retained than released, its time to restore the balance w 3% more plants and soil.

We faced similar climatic problem in 1872 clear cutting NY forests for reconstruction after the Civil War. With the loss of forests acting like a sponge, water level in the Erie Canal went down. Afraid for NY burgeoning economy, thanks to canal traffic, nearly 10,000 Sq mi of Adirondack Forest were purchased and protected as state forests. Retaining standing forests saved the day. Regenerative ag is no less important than trees and will better conditions for all.
