Yes, affluent nations have gone crazed with over consumption. It’s like they are entitled to all that money can buy. And corporations push sales on us to make a profit.

Once a good cut of meat was only served on Sunday with family gathered together. The rest of the week made do with the leftovers, meat pies, sausages, stews. We were very good at stretching it out and making do without killing another animal.

It’s not just eating meat. Dairy including cheeses and ice cream is best from cows. You cannot have one without the other. The only way humans can graze, gain protein, from grasslands is from the herbivores. Herbivores will overgraze and starve if the population is not maintained at the resource’s capacity. Meat should be a celebratory food that is consumed with gratitude. It’s a privilege, not a right. And it is maintaining the local balance of nature.
