Once a good cut of meat was only served on Sunday with family gathered together. The rest of the week made do with the leftovers, meat pies, sausages, stews. We were very good at stretching it out and making do without killing another animal.

The only way humans can graze, gain protein, from grasslands is from the herbivores. Herbivores will overgraze and starve if the population is not maintained at the resource’s capacity. Meat should be a celebratory food that is consumed with gratitude. It’s a privilege, not a right. And it is maintaining the local balance of nature.
