Why must we sustain the level of energy we are producing with the increasing efficiency of machines, lighter materials, and minituration? Why can't we save energy?

Must Americans continue our outrageous rate of consumption?

Why must we pollute so much? Can't we organize like all other life forms to take better care? Why can't governments regulate businesses to cause less damages, to decrease the disparity of wealth with better wages? The size of my skull is a limited space yet I'm not worried about its carrying capacity of brain cells because with more cells they organize to take up no more space than a smaller number. How else can a world with a reported carrying capacity of 3 billion people more comfortably have 8.5 billion? Could it be that people work and life is an organizing force that creates more from less? Isn't the proof in the pudding. And yes, spreading powder in the stratosphere is stupid because it does not address the problem.
