An effective legislator is not a Twitter Star because the latter is political — getting elected. The purpose of getting elected is to pass legislation to improves our condition. The politics of getting elected is steeped in rhetoric like The’ve done nothing I’ll show em. Sort of like the sport of race car driving. Advancing legislation is a team sport like football. In a democracy legislation can only be moved forward with a majority. Bad mouthing other dems hurts all Dems.

Pelosi was pleased by calls for Green Deal Committee because it made meeting her Agenda easier. A decade ago Pelosi had established the Committee on Climate Change, in the basement of the House Buildings, actually between buildings where an office should not be. This was during a time when Climate Change were fighting words. The Cc committee went on to regulate and reduce car emissions. Utilities were forced to reduce carbon emissions with regional greenhouse gas initiatives that included carbon trading, and the EPA was forced to treat carbon dioxide as a pollutant. There is hope when new legislators are already savvy to the work at hand and lend a hand. To maintain a majority, every Dem needs to be able to crow about their efforts to pass much needed legislation. We are all in this together.
